Resolution (4K, 8K, 22K)
Resolution is the pixel count of an image or video, usually named by its long edge — 4K is roughly 4,000 pixels across. More resolution means more printable detail, at the cost of file size and compute.
The K suffix counts thousands of pixels on the long edge: 4K ≈ 3,840–4,096, 8K ≈ 7,680. It matters when the output leaves the screen — a poster print, a trade-show wall, a cropped zoom — because screens rarely show more than 4K anyway. Most AI models generate natively around 1–2K, so the high end is reached with a dedicated upscaling pass rather than a single generation.
A concrete example: a portrait generated at 1K looks perfect on a phone but prints soft at A3. Run through a 22K upscale, the same file carries eyelash-level detail on a metre-wide print.
How Hermosso uses it: the AI Image Upscaler enlarges photos across five tiers up to 22K, engines like Nano Banana 2 generate natively at up to 4K, and the Video Upscaler takes clips to 4K.
