These two tools look similar from the outside and are built for different people. Krea is a model playground: its value is breadth — 64+ models, a real-time canvas, and the freedom to try anything against anything. You arrive knowing roughly what you want and explore your way to it.
Hermosso is a production studio: fewer models, but wrapped in finished workflows — a personal AI persona trained on your own face, 67 curated photoshoot packs, a UGC ad studio, an interiors space, and tools that take a result from generated to publishable. You arrive with a job to do.
If you mostly experiment, Krea's breadth is the better buy. If you repeatedly need the same kind of output — headshots, listings, product shots, ad creative, brand content — the workflow matters more than the model count.

What Krea does better
Krea's free tier is genuinely better than ours, and it is not close. 100 compute units a day, forever, without a card, against our one-time 750 credits. If you want to evaluate a tool over a fortnight without paying, Krea lets you and we do not.
Their real-time canvas has no equivalent here. Generating at sub-50ms while you drag things around is a different way of working, not a faster version of ours, and for concepting it is genuinely excellent.
They also have more models (64+ against our 17 image models and 16 video engines), more upscalers to choose from beneath the same 22K ceiling, and team features. And their API reaches further than ours today — available inside ComfyUI, where ours is a standalone REST API. If your pipeline already lives in ComfyUI, that is a real advantage.
Their moodboards are better than ours, and we should say so. Krea clusters a whole board with custom LLMs and layers that with style references you can weight image by image — three levels of control over how a look carries into new work. Our Style DNA distils a board into a single written taste profile in one pass. That is lighter, it works with every text-prompt engine, and it is genuinely useful for holding a palette across an interiors project — but it is not the same depth of control, and if handing a model a whole visual universe is central to how you work, Krea does it better.
What Hermosso does better
Consistent photos of a specific person. Both tools train a personal model, but only one wraps it in 67 curated packs where the lighting, wardrobe, framing and grade are already written. On Krea you get a trained model and a blank prompt box. That difference is the whole job if what you need is forty usable headshots rather than one interesting image.
Interiors and architecture, built by architects. The Studio was built by two practising architects for their own practice before it was a product — which is why it behaves the way design work does: structure locked by default, real supplier references instead of adjectives, and an editing loop rather than a prompt box. Krea has no equivalent. If you work in property or design, this is not a feature gap, it is a category gap. The full workflow is written up here.
An ad studio, not just a generator. Point the UGC studio at a product URL and it writes the ad script, generates the scenes with a consistent avatar, and produces the clips — a finished creative rather than a folder of images you still have to assemble. Krea has no equivalent.
An API built the sensible way round. Every tool over REST, authenticated with a key, drawing on the credits you already have — no separate meter and no second invoice, included with the Studio plan. Krea bills their API independently of your subscription; we did not want customers reconciling two bills.
Credits that never expire. Krea's compute units reset. Ours carry over indefinitely, which suits work that comes in bursts — a campaign one month, nothing the next.
Finishing tools. Restore, passport, relight, background removal, extend, filters, hairstyles and video in the same subscription — plus a 22K upscale ceiling that matches theirs. Krea generates; we generate and then finish.
The verdict
Choose Krea if you concept visually and want a real-time canvas, you want the widest possible model selection, or your pipeline already runs on ComfyUI.
Choose Hermosso if you need repeatable photos of a specific person, you work in interiors or property, you want finished UGC ad creative rather than raw generations, you want an API with no second bill, or your usage is uneven and expiring credits would sting.
Running both is a real option, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise: Hermosso as the production base layer, Krea alongside it when a project calls for open-ended exploration. At $9 each that is easy to justify.

Is Hermosso cheaper than Krea?
Entry pricing is the same at $9/month. Above that, Krea's Pro is $35 and Max $70; ours are $29 and $79. What differs more than the price is what a credit buys: our credits never expire, while Krea's compute units reset each period. If your work arrives in bursts, non-expiring credits stretch considerably further than the sticker price suggests.
Does Krea have AI headshots like Hermosso?
Krea can train a personal model from your images, so it can produce photos of you. What it does not have is a curated pack system — the 67 pre-written professional, fashion, dating and travel shoots that turn a trained model into forty usable photos without writing forty prompts. If headshots are the job, that is the difference that matters.
Which has better upscaling?
Both of us top out at 22K — Krea through Topaz Photo AI and Gigapixel, us through Topaz Gigapixel and SeedVR2 across five tiers. What Krea still offers is more choice of upscaler beneath that ceiling, so if you like picking a specific engine for a specific image, they have the wider bench.
Does Hermosso have an API like Krea?
Yes — a REST API covering every studio tool, authenticated with a key, drawing on the same plan credits as the app with no separate meter or invoice. It is included with the Studio plan ($79/mo). Krea's API is billed separately, but it is also available inside ComfyUI, which suits pipelines already built there.
